Art Rastinehad, D.O. is a board-certified urologist and fellowship-trained interventional radiologist. He serves as System Director of Prostate Cancer and Vice Chairman of Lenox Hill Urology at Northwell Health in New York City.
Long bio
Art Rastinehad, D.O. is the first urologist in the United States to be dual fellowship-trained in Urologic Oncology and Interventional Radiology, completing both fellowships at the National Cancer Institute (NIH). He is System Director of Prostate Cancer and Vice Chairman of Lenox Hill Urology at Northwell Health.
Dr. Rastinehad helped develop and validate MRI/ultrasound fusion-guided prostate biopsy, now the standard of care for prostate cancer detection. He performed the first MR/US fusion-guided, electromagnetically tracked transperineal prostate biopsy and the first-in-human gold-nanoshell directed photothermal ablation of prostate cancer.
He has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed publications and multiple textbook chapters, including chapters in Campbell-Walsh-Wein Urology (11th and 12th editions). He is the senior editor of Interventional Urology (Springer, 2016), the first comprehensive textbook on the subspecialty. He was named the AUA Young Urologist of the Year in 2019.
His clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive, image-guided treatment of prostate cancer (focal therapy, cryotherapy, robotic prostatectomy, clinical trials), enlarged prostate (prostate artery embolization), varicoceles, and renal masses.
